We’ve made a smart update that will help you find the right craft workers even faster.

This update addressed a challenge we identified where workers were showing up in search result for multiple trades without clear context, making it harder for recruiters to zero in on the right match.

For instance, a worker might have both carpentry and pipefitting experience, leading them to appear in searches for both, even if they weren’t specialized in either. And skills alone don’t tell the whole story: is the experience from a few DIY projects, or years working with a top firm like Brasfield & Gorrie?

Context is everything.

That’s where this update comes in. When craft workers join our platform or update their profiles, we now ask them to specify their primary trade—their true area of expertise. Our search results will prioritize craft workers whose primary trade matches your specific needs, helping you find more qualified candidates with less effort.

Behind the Scenes

Our search algorithm now prioritizes workers who self-identify their primary trade, giving them a 50-point boost in the search rankings. This ensures the workers most qualified for your project appear at the top of your results. Before, workers with multiple trades might have shown up in unrelated searches, but now the search is more relevant and focused.

• Search Boost: When you search for a trade like electricians, workers who list electrician as their primary trade will automatically rank higher. The most relevant workers will consistently appear at the top of your results, saving you time and helping you make faster hiring decisions.

• Trade Assignment: Since August 20, 2024, all new workers are required to declare a primary trade during onboarding. For existing workers, we’ve backfilled this information by reviewing their employment history and matching it to their trades, ensuring you’re seeing workers whose experience aligns with their primary trade.
