Civil Foreman (Pipelayer)
About this role
We’re hiring a hands-on Civil Foreman to lead underground utilities crews on projects across the country. You’ll run day-to-day pipe operations, read plans and profiles, sequence systems, and make sure testing, commissioning and inspections happen on schedule. This is a field role for an experienced pipelayer/pipe foreman who runs crews, enforces safety, manages materials and keeps clear reports and production records. Expect to coordinate with site supervision, subcontractors and inspectors while keeping work moving and compliant with environmental and safety rules.
What you'll do
- • Lead pipe and underground utilities crews on-site: set priorities, assign tasks, and keep crews productive.
- • Read and interpret drawings and profiles; set system sequencing and oversee testing and commissioning of utility systems.
- • Order and track materials (sand, rock, pipe bedding, etc.); coordinate delivery and manage on-site inventories.
- • Coordinate inspections and testing; ensure commissioning activities meet specs and code requirements.
- • Run crew safety meetings, conduct Daily PTPs, enforce SWPPP and site safety procedures, and maintain daily reports.
- • Track production and maintain daily logs; communicate progress and issues clearly with site supervision and stakeholders.
What we're looking for
- • Minimum 8 years’ hands-on experience in underground utilities and pipe work as a crew foreman or competent person.
- • Strong ability to read and interpret civil drawings, profiles and plans; sequence work to meet project demands.
- • Advanced rigging, hoisting and lifting experience; ability to rig and set pipe and rebar cages safely.
- • Proven leadership and crew management skills with clear verbal and written communication.
- • Experience with excavation/trench work, testing and commissioning of utility systems, and coordinating inspections.
- • Knowledge of environmental permitting and compliance, SWPPP practices, and enforcement of safety procedures.
Qualifications
- • CPR and First Aid certification (required)
- • SWPPP training (site-specific or equivalent)
- • Competent Person for trenching/excavation (preferred/required depending on job)
- • Rigging and signal-person training or documented rigging experience
- • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel nationwide; ability to pass drug and background screening
- • English required; Spanish or other language skills a plus
