Rodbuster (Rebar Installer)
About this role
Join a heavy-civil crew based in Marshall, NC as a rodbuster working on bridge and highway projects across Florida. You’ll tie and place rebar in footings, columns, pier caps, decks, approach slabs, and concrete barriers. This is outdoor, hands-on work under a foreman where safety, quality, and staying on schedule matter. You must have field rebar experience, reliable transportation, and the ability to lift up to 75 lbs. Expect a fast-paced team environment, site-specific safety training, and opportunities to develop your craft and advance with industry assessments and certifications.
What you'll do
- • Tie and place reinforcing steel for bridge footings, columns, pier caps, decks, approach slabs, and barrier walls
- • Carry, position, mark, and bend heavy rebar (10–60 ft lengths) and bundles by hand or as part of a lift team
- • Secure intersections and cages using tie wire and pliers; tie in-place for slabs, columns, and walls
- • Use paint/keel to mark bars for cutting, placement, or tying; follow design drawings and foreman direction
- • Load/unload and stage rebar bundles on site; assist with rigging, hoisting, and setting rebar cages as instructed
- • Follow all site safety rules, report unsafe conditions, and stop work when hazards are observed
What we're looking for
- • Minimum 6 months documented field rebar (rodbusting) experience — ironwork-only experience is not sufficient
- • 18+ years old, able to work at heights and outdoors in varying weather
- • Reliable transportation to and from job sites and ability to travel for projects across Florida
- • Able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs consistently and handle long lengths of rebar
- • Basic rodbusting hand tools and willingness to maintain them
- • Read and follow written and verbal instructions, work under a foreman, and contribute to keeping the job on schedule
Qualifications
- • NCCER certification or equivalent craft certification preferred
- • Legally authorized to work in the United States (E-Verify employer)
- • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- • Ability to understand and communicate basic English instructions
- • Access to basic rodbusting tools and willingness to maintain them
- • Minimum of 6 months documented field rebar experience
What we offer
- • Health insurance available after 90 days of employment
- • 401(k) eligibility after one year on the job
- • Hands-on safety and craft training with advancement opportunities
- • Opportunity for increased pay with successful completion of NCCER assessment
