April Product Updates

Skillit continues to refine its platform to offer the most efficient and effortless way to acquire craft labor. Many of Skillit’s improvements stem from feedback from our customers. If you have a feature that you would like to see in the Skillit platform, let your customer success representative know and we will try to get it into the roadmap or let you know why we cannot. Here are the updates for April:

Keyword and past employer searches

We introduced this feature into our search engine in early 2025, but so many of our customers were leveraging it to successfully source qualified craft workers, that we decided to move it up on the search criteria for easier access. This feature helps customers search for craft workers that have worked for similar companies and to ensure that specifics of the role they are hiring for are included in the search results.

Profile pagination

This feature was a suggestion of a customer. When recruiters are sifting through profiles that come from their search results, previously, you would have to view the full profile and then go back to the search to view the next profile. Not anymore. With profile pagination you can easily scroll through all qualified candidates without returning to the search results page simply by pushing the left and right arrows at the top of the profile you are viewing. This way you can review all search results candidate profiles easily to determine the workers you want to reach out to.

New ‘Connect’ flow for Sam calls

With Sam, recruiters can easily screen and schedule candidates without picking up the phone or drafting an email. Sam handles all of this recruiter administrative work for you! When you click on the “Connect with [Craft Worker Name]” button, several options pop up.

  • Schedule a call: Let Sam take over and schedule a call with the worker that fits into both of your schedules.

  • Call Now: Reach out to the worker through Sam immediately to see if you can connect with them at the moment. If they don’t answer, don’t worry, Sam will go to work arranging a convenient time that works for both of you.

  • Request More Profile Info: When you see a profile that looks qualified, but there may be something missing or not listed on their profile, you can simply reach out to the worker directly and request the information that you require. This way you can ensure they are fully qualified before proceeding with an interview.

  • Send a Message: While Skillit recommends that you use Sam for your worker communications, if you want to send a message, you can click on this option and message the worker directly through the platform.

Notes Update

Earlier in 2025, Skillit launched a notes feature to allow recruiters to make notes in the platform on the profile they were reviewing or contacting. Now we have expanded this feature - with the help of our customers. In order to facilitate collaboration among recruiting teams, we have added the ability to tag colleagues in notes so your team can stay aligned on feedback provided through the recruiting process. Like most tagging methods, all you have to do is ‘@’ and type your colleagues name and you can easily add them to notes.

‘Must Haves’

Our goal at Skillit is to ensure that recruiters find the candidates they need to fill their positions. Some jobs require specific certifications or skills that may not be found in every candidate that has experience in the requested trade. That is why we added the ‘must-haves’ feature.

Simply select the skills or certifications required for the position and then in the search results, click on the skills or certifications that are ‘must-haves’. This will lock in this skill or certification and ensure that the platform is only showing candidates that have that criteria. This ensures that recruiters are looking at all of the most qualified candidates in their search results.
